Another Public Enemy 0+

(Gonggongui jeong 2), Kang Woo-suk, Korea 2005, Korean / English subtitles, 148 min

Prosecutor KANG Chul-joong prefers going directly to the crime scene to reading files, his intuition and guts to logic and reason. Now he gets involved in the Myung-sun Foundation case. HAN Sang-woo assumed the position of Executive Director of the Myung-sun Foundation when his father died, and his successor, his elder son, suffered a car accident and fell into a coma. Soon, a director on the board of the Myung-sun Foundation becomes suspicious and files a case with the prosecutor’s office. Kang Chul-joong has a hunch about the case and decides to pursue it. And coincidentally, Han Sang-woo turns out to be an old friend of Kang Chul-joong from high school.

Kang Woo-suk is important for Korean cinema not only as a director, but also as a producer (he produces films of director Im Kwon-taek) and distributor. His films count on commercial success, yet they still reflect honest filmmaking skills, a witty approach and strong dramatic ideas. As a director he made his debut with the box-office hit Two Policemen (series). Czech audience has a possibilty to see his film Silmido (one of the most successful film in Korea) at Febiofest 2005.
